Daddy's Creek Overlook Hike Directions

 Daddy's Creek Overlook Hike Directions

One Way Distance 1.1 miles

Above is an embedded Google Map that shows you the location of Daddy's Creek Overlook as well as the Cumberland Trail parking area for it.

Driving Directions:

From Interstate 40 in Crab Orchard get off at Exit #329 Crab Orchard
Head to the town of Crab Orchard and cross the railroad tracks on Market St. and bear left toward the Liberty Market convenience store.  Turn LEFT onto Main St.  and drive 0.20 miles to a RIGHT turn onto Hebbertsburg Rd.  Stay on Hebbertsburg Road for 5.25 miles to a well signed trailhead for the Daddy's Creek Section of the Cumberland Trail on the LEFT.  You will have passed a sign for Eden Ridge Missionary Retreat about 1/4 mile back on the right.

The parking lot has ample space and an information kiosk, but no facilities.

Park here to begin your hike.

**Word of Warning-- Google Maps incorrectly directed us to stop at a pull of about a mile too soon.
This is not the right spot and is signed private property.   The map knows here you are only 1/2 mile from the overlook as the crow flies so perhaps that is why it told us to park there.

Hiking Directions:

From the parking area the trail begins behind the forest service gate at the info kiosk.
the trail you want goes westward or almost straight.  A section of the Cumberland Trail veers LEFT here at a signed intersection that leads out toward Hebbertsburg Road. This part of the trail is incomplete and not the way you want to go.

Follow the trail west by southwest to reach the overlook. It has little elevation change over the entire course of the hike with a few gradual ups and downs over three low, intervening ridges that lay between the parking area and the overlook.

The campsite for this trail section is at 2.7 miles from the parking lot in a northward direction from the overlook.  The trails are white blazed.

You will reach the overlook at a sign indicating to turn sharply left.
The overlook is very pretty, but use caution as it has no hand rails or man made improvements.
