Subscribe to Cumberland Gal and Quick Users Guide

 Hi Readers!  

    I am Dana.  I am the creator and author of Cumberland Gal.   It is a blog I've had going since 2011.  Recent reader questions have given me ideas about how to make this blog more user friendly.   I cleaned up the front page  removing 

the clutter.   I added a subscribe button at the top right column of the blog.    

    I also realized that it can be confusing to readers depending upon how they come to find this blog.  It appears one way on a desktop, and another way on handheld devices like phones and tablets.      I decided to make a page addressing it . 

            I know from looking at  the statistical data  the majority of folks use handheld devices.    

    Cell Phone View

   On a cell phone the front page blog is formatted compactly. 

 There is a drop down menu under the title bar. If you tap that it gives you a drop down menu of choices

• Cumberland Gal Alphabetical Index
• and whatever other pages are across the front

Desk Top View

       The view on a desk top computer is different.  It looks like the photo shown below.

It will be the main page of the blog or "Home" page.  There is the cover photo and beneath that are colored tabs.  They say Home, Cumberland Gal  Cover Photo & Updates, and Cumberland Gal Alphabetical Index. Lastly I have a tab for the Subscribe and Quick Users Guide.

     There is a search box in the top left corner, far right column, an email me contact form,

a paragraph about me, and a featured blog post.     

    If you want to subscribe you use the subscribe box at the top right of the column on the front page.   

  Cover Photo and Updates Page

   A word about this page.   One of the things that it might be helpful to know is that if you are a reader and see I have changed the cover photo it usually means there is a new trip report or reports coming.   Not 100% of the time, but 95%.   

 

       I hope this explanation is helpful to the reader.   

      I respond to all emails UNLESS they are spam or just hateful. 

I  respond to emails with views that I don't agree with so  long as the person is a civil.

Please let me know if you try to leave comments on my blog and it doesn't  let you? 

You must have a Google account and be signed into it to do so.  Comments go for moderation on any blog post  over a month old.   That means I get an email notification about the comment and I am asked do I want to publish it or not?

Subscription Glitches

   I have updated this article to add that after adding the subscribe button I found that this functions poorly.   The  problem is with Google and their applications. 

    

   If you want to follow Cumberland Gal for now, and I hope you will, the simplest way is to 1.  bookmark the site to your favorites on your device or 2.  friend me on Facebook or follow me on there.   If I post new content I share it to FB.    You could be assured of being kept up with the latest.    

   I am considering moving Cumberland Gal to a new host such as Wix or Webador.  

I haven't made up my mind yet.
