Towee Creek Picnic Area Directions

Four years after my first venture to this spot I had to cipher out exactly how to get back here.
I am typing up directions just in case.

From the Intersection of SR 30 and SR 315 (Tellico-Reliance Road)  at Webb's Texaco and Store

Turn onto Rt 315 heading north. and cross the bridge over the Hiwassee River. Drive 0.20 Miles and turn RIGHT onto Childers Creek Road which may be unsigned.   Stay on Childers Creek road for 1.20 miles where you will encounter an intersection. You will see Reliance Fly & Tackle Store on your right.  Turn RIGHT here!!  It will look like you are turning into their business, but it is the continuance of Childers Creek Road.  Drive Childers Creek Road another 0.25 miles and stay STRAIGHT here.  Here Childers Creek Road bears sharp left and the road straight ahead which you are now on becomes Power House Road.  It dead ends at the electric generating power house eventually.  You will pass Big Bend Picnic area and boat launch into the Hiwassee on the right in less than a mile.  Once you have been on Power House road a little less than 2 miles you will see a signed entrance on your LEFT for Towee Creek Picnic Area.

It has parking, 3 picnic tables, vault toilet, privacy for changing clothes, bear proof trashcans. and a boat ramp.  There is additional overflow parking or for larger rigs up from the picnic tables. John Muir Trail access is here as well on the right and crossing Towee Creek.

It is an excellent place for playing in the water, swimming, and relaxing or launching a kayak into the river's lower section. There is plenty of shade.

Below is a view of the boat ramp and the tables.
