I will continue to focus on visiting the areas that pertain to the Little Tennessee River watershed and include them in Valley So Wild blog series.

I will continue the Country Store blog series

I have persuaded a couple friends who are experts on Gobey to take a ride with me and Kenny to elaborate on the area, its structures, and stories.   I feel this is an invaluable opportunity.  I hope it can be used to benefit the Morgan County Historical Society.

On the Home Front

We are looking forward to a trip for July 4th to western NC for the first time since Helene hit.
We  have been warned that many trails are not the same as they were before.

Readers are going to start noticing ( if they haven't already) many more trips to lakes and rivers to swim and tube, fish and explore.    We've already visited Chilhowee Lake and Watts Barr Lake this Summer.   Our son Jared never asks for anything trip wise, but he asked to go to the base of Burgess Falls so we will do our best to make that happen.  With the pontoon boat we will be able to fit in Burgess, Fancher and Mist Falls in one day easily.   I will compile a list of directions how to reach things we find that are cool.    Another lake trip I want to make particularly is Fontana Lake.     It will be interesting to see how much we can squeeze in this Summer.

Hearing from Readers of My Blog

I get emails or text messages from readers now and then. I always enjoy hearing from them.   I've made some good friends. I've gotten ideas that have greatly improved Cumberland Gal.  I am happy to help with directions to places. I answer all emails.
You never know what we could come up with together!  I welcome suggestions, corrections, and do my best to be helpful.

Below is a video of  one of my all time favorite hymns by George Matheson, arranged by Elaine Hagenberg.   It is in memory of my friend John's father who passed away Wednesday June 25, 2025.  A good Presbyterian gentleman who I am sure will be missed.   Prayers for the family's comfort in the days ahead.
