Pumpkinfest at Silvermont 2022*

*This is another case of the trip report being so out of date that the Pumpkinfest 2022 is right around the corner.  Posting the link to the current season's info for anyone who might be interested in attending and planning ahead.

We attended Pumpkinfest  about 2019 then Covid hit in 2020 so no Pumpkinfest.   We were disappointed, because we had such a good time with friends.  I really loved the music. We heard Unpaid Bill and the Bad Czechs.

I found out they were going to be performing the final Saturday of Pumpkinfest 2021.  I went ahead and booked us a cabin reservation so we could attend.

It was only one night so it did not make sense to bring the camper over.

We both said of the first experience that it would be really fun to bring the grandkids to participate.   We did not realize that Brevard as a whole shuts down the streets for Pumpkinfest and it isn't just Silvermont Park that holds it!

It turned out to be even more fun than we'd imagined.  We drove over and the kids spent the day having fun in Brevard.  We went to O.P. Taylor's Toy Store.

They all got some kind of new toy.   We went round to other stores. There was all kinds of free entertainment in the streets.  Dancing. Hula hoop contests.   Bouncy castles and slides.  We ate lunch and had a grand time.

Finally everyone needed a break so we checked in at Adventure Village

in our little cabin.   We did some assessing of the sleep arrangements.  We realized the sleeping loft was going to need a few adjustments to accommodate three kids.

We drove back to Wal-Mart in Brevard and purchased a mattress pad nice and thick along with some blankets and pillows.   We made a pallet extension that was okay for one night.   The kids had fun on the playground equipment and playing with their new toys. They loved the little cabin and the loft.

We headed back to town and had supper then went to Silvermont to start the festivities.   The Silvermont park volunteers really outdid themselves this year.

The displays were very cool. They had a count the white squirrels scavenger hunt around the walk path.   Colorful and semi spooky lights were everywhere.  They spent some time at first playing on the playground equipment.   Next they all signed up to do the squirrel hunt.   They got to meet Fuzzy the Brevard white squirrel at the event!   They even saw his real life Morris Minor car!

Above and below:  Unpaid Bill & the Bad Czechs. Not everyone would care for their style of music, but it is upbeat and I like it a lot.  It is happy.

We really enjoyed the festivities and concert.   It was a success. The kids had a great time with Nanny & Papaw.    I don't know if we will go back again, but it might be good since little Mia did not get to attend. We shall see!
