Sunday March 31, 2024

Kenny was supposed to work out of town Easter Sunday, but got blessed to be able to be on call instead.   It was wonderful to have him at home and the best part? He didn't get called to come in!    I had gotten the children's Easter clothes purchased and Jared picked them up Saturday night along with Easter Bunny stuff.

Brooke had the awesome idea of hiring the Junior Service League to hide the eggs for the Easter Egg hunt.    No work for the hosts or guests.. just fun!

Below: the Junior Service league hid the eggs.  It was a fund raiser for their outfit. A good deal for the hosts and guests and the kids loved it!

Kenny, myself and Jared, Lydia, Gabe & Mia attended their church. They'd been wanting us to try it and we finally did.  It was great! I see why they love it and have made it their home church.
Pastor Dale had a fine sermon and we were all praising the Lord! It was a big deal to me to see my grandchildren loving their Sunday school classes and enjoying worship service.   Gabe with his little hands up praising and feeling the movement of the Holy Spirit.  The sermon was about Jesus gift of salvation for us and reconciliation to our Father God through his sacrificial death on the cross.  About how none of our good deeds would ever cancel out the weight of sin.

Gabe looked so handsome in his suit and tie.  Mia looked darling in her little ruffly dress and socks and  pink patent shoes.    It was a perfect weather day. Sunny, blue skies, and warmed up to seventy eight degrees!

We went back to the house and I finished up cooking.  I took two roast chickens, pans of yeast rolls, peas,  and scalloped potatoes.  Kenny made sweet tea.   He helped lug all that over to Crystal's and Adam's house in Payne Holler.     We were to eat at 3 pm but got there around 2:30 to visit and help set up. I took Crystal a vase of flowers.

Mike blessed the food and we ate like Elvis!   Adam and Crystal had outdone themselves.
Smoke salmon.  A smoked beef tenderloin.   Pam fixed sliced ham and rolls. Sweet potato casserole.    Heather's perfect, legendary mashed potatoes.   Crystal made fruit salad.
Cowboy baked beans.  Green beans.  Deviled eggs.   Pans and pans of rolls.  Brook's corn casserole!  Pasta salad by Crystal.

Sweet tea, coffee, lemonade, or soft drinks.

The UT Vols basketball championship on the tv for the family basket ball enthusiasts.

Kenny brought the kids four wheeler over AFTER clearing it with Crystal.  Brooke already put in an order for NO ACCIDENTS this year!    And that was thankfully the case this year.
Oh except for Uncle Brian getting whapped in the head by a whiffle ball during the big whiffle ball game.   It hit his hat so it didn't hurt him too bad.

The kids hunted eggs after our meal.   It was awesome fun!
They played in the creek. By the time we headed home Mia Koogler and Michael had gone swimming in the creek!  She came sauntering up the bank shirtless and soaked head to toe.
I asked who instigated this? Michael admitted it was him.  Good thing because she loves to throw him under the bus more than anything in the world.  She doesn't mind saying so either!

Lots of sitting around talking and catching up. Lots and lots of laughing at one another.
Uncle Joe reminding us that we needed to call the next day to book reservations at the campground for Fall break if we are going in October.

I was so tired after worship service I figured I'd put in a cameo appearance and get Kenny to run me home.   I finally got home around eight o clock!

Laura said it best. This family does have FOMO.  We all love each other and have terrible fear of missing out.    We are all a little bit jealous. Adam, my son in law made sure I got the required zerbert on my neck.  A really good one!

I am blessed. I don't deserve it, but I am blessed.    We all are.
This year's Nebolian Easter was even better than last year.   We had a few folks who had other commitments, but most of  us were there.

And Lord willing, next Easter I will have two new knees and be up to playing whiffle ball!

Below: Jared empties the slop.  When you live in the country you sling  tater peelings and such out in the weeds.   It had been a minute since he had to do that!  We used to do it all the time!

Below: I love the bright green of new Spring leaves. These are poplar leaves.
