Directions:

From Hwy 52 in the community of Alpine turn onto Campus Circle and drive round behind the old

gymnasium building. It is now the Alpine Community Center. Park here.

Walk or ride from there out Mountain Lane which goes briefly through a residential area. You will curve past a

small white house on the left and the road continues sharply right and up the mountain. From there it is

gravel or dirt. Just stay with the main trail until you get up the mountain. From there stay left to head

toward the summit and bear right/west to head toward the old stone house. It is right by the trail.

It is a dirt road that very quickly becomes slick, rutted and impassable to all but four wheel drive vehicles such as side by sides, atvs, serious four wheel drive vehicles. or foot travel/horses. You will only go 1/4 mile out of the parking area before the road becomes difficult to travel. Once out here there is not a good place to turn around or pull off so either go in four wheel drive prepared to summit the mountain or walk from the parking lot.

Below is a link to a map of the area with the parking area marked.

The parking area and Mountain Lane go past a couple residences so please be respectful of the homeowners and do not litter or be annoying or destructive in any way.

Below is a link to a photo album of the mountain in Spring and Fall. It gives you an idea what it is like, and may help you decide if you want to go up there.
